<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>We’ve been in this area for almost three years now and I’ve finally made it to The Cook’s Room!\u00a0 It’s in downtown Dodgeville and as you can see they are located in a beautiful, Italianate style (I hope I’m right)\u00a0building.\u00a0 My first\u00a0visit was\u00a0about two weeks ago.\u00a0 I walked in and there was a\u00a0raucous group of\u00a0ladies who\u00a0were definitely having a grand time.\u00a0 It turned out that one of them was a former music student\u00a0 of mine and she told me that they had all just come from a “Laughter Yoga” class and they were practicing what they had learned.\u00a0 An older couple\u00a0was having a quiet lunch in one corner.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Towards the back room, a group of teenagers took pictures of each other nonstop.\u00a0 A toddler waddled and crawled across the room away from it’s mother.\u00a0 The cafe seemed to be\u00a0a favorite local hangout across all\u00a0ages.\u00a0 They also support local culture and businessess\u00a0 evident from the posters and cards\u00a0that decorate the edge of the bar.\u00a0 The space was very colorful yet soothing.\u00a0 I was instantly drawn to the\u00a0large tins along the wall where they keep their loose teas and was happy to discover that they had apricot tea in stock\u00a0(my favorite dessert tea).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

I met my friend Resha for lunch and we both ordered salads.\u00a0 I had the “Provence” (marinated chicken, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, red onions, and kalamata olives served over mixed greens with balsamic vinaigrette and freshly baked bread).\u00a0 It was delicately flavored just the way I liked it.\u00a0 The salad was huge and I\u00a0had to take home more than half of it.\u00a0 For $8 it was a very generous helping.\u00a0 They also serve a variety of hot and cold sandwiches.\u00a0 Next time I will have to try the “Campagnola” (chicken, pesto, mozarella cheese, and roasted red peppers on sourdough bread).\u00a0 We both appreciated the friendly and quick service.<\/p>\n

On my second visit last Thursday, I ordered a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie and a slice of turtle (caramel\u00a0& pecan)\u00a0chocolate cake to go.\u00a0 I happily devoured my strawberry rhubarb pie because I was hoping that I was eating their last locally sourced frozen fruit supply from last season.\u00a0 Keith loved his chocolate cake (but then again he loves all chocolate cakes except for ones that I try to make healthy at home).\u00a0 I also got to talk to owner Amy Jo Gobin briefly.\u00a0 She is one busy lady.\u00a0 We did our interview while she balanced\u00a0two crates of food in her arms!\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Cook’s Room is\u00a0a wonderful place to visit anytime of the day.\u00a0 They are located in downtown Dodgeville.\u00a0 You can’t miss it!\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hours of Operation:\u00a0 Monday to Friday 8 to 4PM, and\u00a0Saturdays from 9 to 3PM.\u00a0 Closed on Sundays.<\/p>\n
