Okay so this is never going to be one of those sophisticated beer blog where I talk about citrus notes and hoppy undertones.\u00a0 I don’t know that much about beer and I’m only a casual drinker. \u00a0\u00a0 This is Capital Brewery’s Island Wheat<\/a>.\u00a0 It is a wheat beer.\u00a0 It tastes like a wheat beer.\u00a0 I like wheat beer.\u00a0 If you’d like to read more about Island Wheat, I suggest Beer Advocate<\/a>.\u00a0 They actually know what they’re talking about.<\/p>\n

Island Wheat is called that because the wheat is sourced from Washington Island in Door County, Wisconsin.\u00a0 The same wheat is also used to make Death’s Door Spirits<\/a> (vodka and gin). The Washington Island Hotel<\/a> and Washington Island Coffee Room<\/a> in Madison are related businesses that used Washington Island wheat in their breads.\u00a0 It’s very cool to see the hard work (& pride) these people are putting into building a new regional food identity.\u00a0\u00a0 America is such a homogenized country at the moment.\u00a0 This country will be a much more interesting place if companies like Capital, Death’s Door, and the Washington Island Hotel prosper.\u00a0 They give the region an identity; distinct and compelling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
