as well as other treats through the years.\u00a0 Thank you Deb.)\u00a0 My bowl of pears from the\u00a0Tippy Top Orchard were perfectly ripe and I had some raspberry syrup that I made earlier\u00a0in the\u00a0summer from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.buresberrypatch.com\/\">Bures<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0I also had only two hours to make something for a pig roast that we were\u00a0due to attend\u00a0that evening!\u00a0 So out of necessity and a lack of time, I made a pear and raspberry baklava with walnuts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Simple Ingredients<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/driftlessappetite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/baklavaingredients.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3354\" title=\"baklavaingredients\" src=\"http:\/\/driftlessappetite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/baklavaingredients.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"691\" srcset=\"https:\/\/driftlessappetite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/baklavaingredients.jpeg 1000w, https:\/\/driftlessappetite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/baklavaingredients-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><!--more--><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>RECIPE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Pear and Raspberry Baklava with Walnuts<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Ingredients<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 350 degrees F<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>12 sheets of pre-made phyllo dough<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1\/2 cup raspberry syrup<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>4 medium sized ripe pears<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 t. lemon juice<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 stick of melted butter<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 c. chopped walnuts<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 T. brown sugar<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 t. cinnamon<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Syrup <\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>1\/4 c. granulated sugar<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1\/4 c. honey<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1\/2 c. water<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 t. lemon juice<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>the zest of one lemon<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.\u00a0 Toast and roughly chop the walnuts then mix in the brown sugar and cinnamon.\u00a0 Set aside.\u00a0 Dice the pears with the skins on then coat with the lemon juice to prevent browning.\u00a0 Set aside.\u00a0 Melt the butter.\u00a0 Set aside.<\/p>\n<p>Butter the bottom of a sheet pan with a brush.\u00a0 Lay the first sheet of phyllo dough.\u00a0 Butter the top of that sheet then add another layer until you&#8217;ve got a stack of 4.\u00a0 Every layer must be buttered.\u00a0 Add some of the walnut mixture, pears, then drizzle with the raspberry sauce.\u00a0 Add and butter 4 layers of phyllo on top of that then all the toppings again.\u00a0 (Save a little bit of the walnut mix to sprinkle on\u00a0top after\u00a0baking.)\u00a0 Add another 4 layers then bake for about 45 to 50 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>While baking, you can make the syrup.\u00a0 Put everything in a saucepan and boil for about 5 minutes.\u00a0 Set aside to cool.\u00a0 Pour over the baklava immediately after baking.\u00a0 Let it cool.\u00a0 (By the way, your house will smell amazing and you&#8217;ll have to fight the urge to devour this light and crisp summer dessert.)\u00a0 Some improvements need to be made for next time but the main thing is to use all of the butter.\u00a0 I held back a bit and it resulted in dry and too crisp edges.\u00a0 This did not deter most people at the\u00a0party\u00a0though as it was all gone within half an hour.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pear &amp;
