This is about the time when I start complaining about summer not being long enough.\u00a0 I haven’t done everything outdoorsy\u00a0that I’ve wanted to do on my list.\u00a0\u00a0On that list is a kayak trip on the Wisconsin.\u00a0 Looking through our\u00a0“food adventure” pictures folder,\u00a0I realized I’ve\u00a0almost forgotten\u00a0about this sweet little place.\u00a0 It’s hard to figure out exactly what to call\u00a0this restaurant\u00a0(Wisconsin Riverside Resort <\/a>aka Shifflet’s aka Riverside Grille) in Spring Green<\/a>.\u00a0 There is a pool and campground on one part\u00a0of the property\u00a0and a restaurant and\u00a0a canoe\/kayak launch into the river on the other side.\u00a0 One thing for sure, it’s a great place to start or end an adventure on the Wisconsin River.<\/p>\n

For us, it was for a weekday lunch.\u00a0 I had\u00a0“Stinky Burger” (rolled in fresh garlic and topped with blue cheese and onion rings) and Keith had the chicken soup and the “Spicy Burger” (loaded with jalapeno and cream cheese).\u00a0 I was pleasantly surprised when they asked how I would like my burger cooked, a sign that they have\u00a0good\u00a0beef in-house.\u00a0 I like mine medium well, just slightly pink.\u00a0 They did not disappoint, the burger was very juicy and perfectly cooked.\u00a0 I could have done without the blue cheese though\u00a0because I love garlic so much.\u00a0 The onion rings added a nice crunch and the fries were delicious.\u00a0 Keith enjoyed his jalapeno burger and chicken soup.\u00a0 One thing we will need to\u00a0do differently next time is to add at least a 3 hour kayaking trip on the river to help burn\u00a0some of the calories we consumed!\u00a0 Waaah, summer is too short…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
