Two years ago at the Spring Green Art Fair, I\u00a0remember being\u00a0drawn to some really striking and imaginative paintings by local artist, Nick Ringelstetter<\/a>.\u00a0 I just knew I had to have one of his pieces someday.\u00a0 Two years later while visiting with my friend Claire at the Johnston Gallery<\/a> in Mineral Point, she informed me that they had just started carrying some new pieces she thought I might like.\u00a0 They turned out to be Nick’s.\u00a0 I saw the one I just had to have, a quick photo text to Keith to see if he agreed, and we purchased our first painting.\u00a0 Quintessential Wisconsin isn’t it?<\/p>\n

The week after my first purchase, Nick started a Facebook page for his work called Atomic 7<\/a>\u00a0and I “liked” the page.\u00a0 As luck would have it, I won the first giveaway, a 24″ by 48″ piece from his early works called Candy Graffiti<\/em>.\u00a0 I was ecstatic!\u00a0 I’ve got the Cows & Moon <\/em>hanging above my piano and the other one in the dining room.\u00a0 Everyone who comes to the house have admired the paintings.\u00a0 My music students especially have been having a fun time interpreting the work below.\u00a0 Maybe it’s a mutant robotic spider with color-coded superpowers, said one of them.<\/p>\n

Candy Graffiti<\/em><\/p>\n

Nick has been seriously painting urban graffiti style art for only three years.\u00a0 This young artist is definitely on the rise.\u00a0 According to\u00a0the “Yearly Blog<\/a>” section on his website<\/a>, he sold 315 paintings last year, quite a significant rise from the\u00a015 he sold \u00a0in 2008.\u00a0 Artists he admires include Andy Van Schyndle, Mikey Teutul and Banksy.\u00a0 I’ll definitely be following his work.\u00a0 Finally, what you’ve really been dying to know, Nick’s recipe for Cocoa Coffee<\/em>, his drink of choice when he is working in the studio.<\/p>\n
