A couple of weekends ago, Keith and I went to the opening day of the Spring Green Farmer’s Market<\/a>.\u00a0 The drive on Highway 23 never ceases to take my breath away, especially whenever we pass by Taliesin<\/a> and the Wisconsin River.\u00a0 The market was bustling.\u00a0 We spotted our friend Rebecca Claypool<\/a>\u00a0of Yellow Barn Farm<\/a> behind some crisp and colorful veggies.\u00a0 I was taken by the garlic scapes\u00a0(so freshly picked that the sap was still oozing out of them) and\u00a0a basketful of beautiful\u00a0pink turnips which I first thought were radishes.\u00a0 You see, I have been trying to love the radish for awhile now and it\u00a0hasn’t been\u00a0working out.\u00a0 Thankfully, Rebecca had some samples because I apparently love turnips!\u00a0 To me, they tasted\u00a0very close to\u00a0jicama<\/a>\u00a0or singkamas<\/em>\u00a0which I ate growing up in the Philippines.\u00a0 We ended up buying some of the pink turnips, shallots, and some Romaine lettuce.<\/p>\n

Something else that caught my eye was the My Fine Homestead<\/a> setup.\u00a0 The had all sorts of animals:\u00a0 goats, kittens, and baby chicks.\u00a0 Awww…how adorable, right?\u00a0 It was a pretty hot day so after chatting with friends, we headed over to the General Store<\/a>\u00a0for an always reliably scrumptious breakfast.\u00a0 We were happy to see that they now serve \u00a0Kickapoo coffee<\/a>\u00a0(our favorite brand).\u00a0 Keith had the green chile breakfast burrito and I had buttermilk pancakes with peaches, raspberries, and blueberries (with whipped butter and real WI maple syrup).\u00a0 Heaven.\u00a0 What a beautiful morning. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
