<\/a>Last year, my mom took my brother and I to\u00a0my favorite city in the world.\u00a0 With London\u00a0serving as\u00a0the world’s stage right now for the summer Olympics, I\u00a0thought I might show you a tasty kaleidoscope\u00a0that is\u00a0the Borough Market<\/a>.\u00a0 Hands down,\u00a0it is\u00a0the\u00a0finest market I’ve visited so far.\u00a0 I remember descending down some steps and being greeted by the strong aroma of fried\u00a0spicy meat coming\u00a0from\u00a0a giant size paella pan, sizzling with paprika red Spanish chorizo.\u00a0 Up ahead, a woman\u00a0sold\u00a0at least\u00a030 different kinds of Turkish delights<\/a>, the colors and the flavors were equally enchanting.\u00a0 I picked up some raspberry, lemon, pistachio, coconut,\u00a0and the classic rosewater.\u00a0 Even more impressive was the selection of nuts, which was double the amount of the candy selection.\u00a0 To the right, the briny and clean smell of the packed oyster stand.\u00a0 Each oyster\u00a0so big,\u00a0you could barely fit one in your mouth.\u00a0 There was a German pastry stand,\u00a0the homeliest fish I’ve ever seen, a guy that sold whatever type of fruit smoothie you could dream up, and the Thai curry stand, oh\u00a0I just had to stop.\u00a0 The man had three huge vats (red, green, and white)\u00a0that he was watching and stirring once in awhile.\u00a0 I watched as he added some chicken into the white one.<\/p>\n Happy Vendors<\/em><\/p>\n Next, a large section devoted to meat pies: wild boar, pheasant, chicken, ham, Scottish beef\u00a0and even some venison.\u00a0 I bought\u00a0a classic pork\u00a0pie.\u00a0 A few steps from the main market was Neal’s Yard Dairy, cheese heaven.\u00a0 Interesting fact, our friends Andy<\/a> and his wife Caitlin from Uplands Cheese<\/a>\u00a0worked\u00a0at Neal’s Yard a few years ago.\u00a0 Their one of a kind and award winning\u00a0Pleasant Ridge Reserve is actually available to buy in the shop.\u00a0\u00a0According to Caitlin, the only unpleasant thing about their experience in\u00a0London was having to ride the\u00a0Tube on their way home, smelly\u00a0from working all day.\u00a0 I wonder how many polite ways a person might cover their nose?<\/p>\n We tasted about 20 different types of cheeses.\u00a0 I bought a piece of Tymsboro<\/a>, a pyramid shaped goats cheese and a\u00a0punch you in the face aromatic\u00a0wedge of the Stinking Bishop<\/a>, and a baguette.\u00a0 The latter was so stinky that it made my mom\u00a0a bit angry.\u00a0 I believe she said “Why do you pretend to like this stuff?”. (She prefers the more polite kind of cheeses.)\u00a0 Besides the incredible selection of cheeses, Neal’s Yard had charcuterie and some\u00a0gorgeous breads and pastries from Chef Fergus Henderson<\/a>‘s St. John Bakery<\/a>.\u00a0 After that we went next door to get some coffee from Monmouth<\/a>\u00a0(where they only serve single origin coffee).\u00a0 The line was incredibly long.\u00a0 It extended almost all the way to the main market, a good sign I hoped and it was.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/driftlessappetite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/boroughmrktcolor.jpeg\" "\\"boroughmrktcolor\\"")
