Last Saturday we\u00a0got to attend one\u00a0of\u00a0my favorite\u00a0things in the spring. \u00a0Joe and Christy Cole\u2019s first kiln firing\u00a0party at\u00a0Windy Ridge Pottery<\/a>.\u00a0 We\u00a0were like moths drawn to flames toward the giant 3 chambered kiln dubbed \u201cthe camel\u201d by my friend Claire<\/a>.\u00a0 Thank goodness there is always lot of scrumptious\u00a0food and beer before you get too close!\u00a0 Joe Cole has singed his eyebrows a couple of times but it is understandable because\u00a0he is\u00a0the master of the kiln\u00a0(meaning, we let him do most of the work).\u00a0 It is quite a difficult job because the fire has to be fed for 2 whole nights.\u00a0 Christy, the mistress of the kiln, had to stay up the\u00a0second\u00a0night (after most of us have gone home to bed).\u00a0 The kiln was finally opened yesterday.\u00a0 After\u00a0a bit of inspection and cleaning, they will be ready\u00a0for Clay in May<\/a> this weekend.<\/p>\n

The Camel<\/em><\/p>\n

We feasted on\u00a0brats, burgers, chips, cookies, carrot cake, pesto pasta salad, spicy garbanzo bean salad, quinoa and carrot salad, and New Glarus<\/a> ales.\u00a0 The first time<\/a> we went was in 2010.\u00a0 We have met so many great friends there!<\/p>\n
