Probably the\u00a0longest standing “to do” place on our list has been Breitbach’s Country Dining<\/a> in Balltown, Iowa.\u00a0 We first hear about the place back in 2007, before we even lived in the\u00a0Driftless Area.\u00a0 Breitbach’s was featured on\u00a0Alton Brown’s\u00a0awesome, but directionally challenged, Feasting on Asphalt: The River Run<\/a>.\u00a0 (I say directionally challenged because it would make so much more sense to travel down<\/em> the Mississippi and end in Louisiana eating etouffee, then up<\/em> the Mississippi and end with Lutefisk in Minnesota.)\u00a0 Complicating our longstanding\u00a0plans to visit Breitbach’s\u00a0was the fact\u00a0that since we heard about it, it\u00a0burned to the ground<\/a>.\u00a0 Twice<\/a>.\u00a0 Both times it was rebuilt, however, and it is going stronger than ever.\u00a0 More recently, it was featured in the documentary Spinning Plates<\/a>:<\/p>\n
