Keith and I\u00a0had a chance to visit\u00a0Paris last spring.\u00a0 I can’t help but imagine us in place of those people who were hurt in the attacks.\u00a0 We spent hours in the Canal St. Martin\/H\u00f4pital Saint-Louis area and even dined just around the corner from Le Petit Cambodge.\u00a0 If we had more time, we might have been at the Bataclan theater.\u00a0 Maybe I will share some of our beautiful moments and food with you later but right now my heart is heavy.\u00a0 I spotted and photographed\u00a0a lot of poppies (a symbol of remembrance) while we\u00a0were there and thought it appropriate to accompany this poem written during the First World War by John McCrae<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Flanders Field<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
\nBetween the crosses, row on row,
\nThat mark our place; and in the sky
\nThe larks, still bravely singing, fly
\nScarce heard amid the guns below.<\/p>\n

We are the Dead. Short days ago
\nWe lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
\nLoved and were loved, and now we lie,
\nIn Flanders fields.<\/p>\n

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
\nTo you from failing hands we throw
\nThe torch; be yours to hold it high.
\nIf ye break faith with us who die
\nWe shall not sleep, though poppies grow
\nIn Flanders fields.<\/p>\n
